Miss E.
An Osprey glides low
and then swoops up
and lands high
across the creek...
Lands high in a winter tree.
The osprey faces me
spreads his wings
then looks to the side
like a portrait on a coin:
A statement stance
that holds my attention
and respect.
I think of Miss E
with her estuary birds
and love of life,
her devoted husband
their beautiful daughters.
I am grateful for the time
you were on earth,
my darling, talented cousin-
living life to the fullest.
